Statement: NDC Shocked At Kwabena Bomfeh's Legal Action On STX PDF Print E-mail

Statement: NDC shocked at Kwabena Bomfeh’s action

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is surprised that the National Youth Organizer of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr had gone to the Supreme Court with the intent of preventing Parliament from approving the STX Housing Project that is before it. It is not in doubt that the STX Project is a Pro-poor one which apart from addressing the deplorable accommodation problem facing the security agencies will benefit many public and civil service workers who are constantly struggling with paying exorbitant rent advance to landlords.

The NDC is at a loss as to whether Mr. Bomfeh’s action represents the position of the CPP. If not then it only confirms him as a mole of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the CPP. Having observed the utterances, association and action of Mr. Bomfeh over the last three years, one is amply convinced that he is being used by the NPP to create the impression that they are not alone in the unreasonable effort of preventing a project that is intended to benefit the larger interest of Ghana.

It is no secret that our security personnel especially the military and the police are frustrated by lack of adequate, reasonable and decent duty post which has a negative effect on the output of the essential services they perform for society it therefore beats ones imagination why some Ghanaians would not want to see the problem resolved.

CPP urges President to assist GNPC to purchase Kosmos

The Convention People's Party (CPP) has appealed to President John Atta Mills to assist the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) to purchase Kosmos stake in the Jubilee Oil Field and its determination to achieve extensive deepwater capacity in the near future. "With GNPC as the shareholder all Ghanaians have the possibility of being shareholders in the future. This would be a scheme of singular boldness and great magnitude," the party said in an open letter to the President. Mr Ivor Greenstreet, the General Secretary of the CPP, signed the letter.

The letter said it would not be easy for this objective to be achieved because "Kosmos is a powerful, all pervasive, devious and determined enterprise accountable to no one except a handful of arrogant directors mercilessly trying to destroy all who stand in their way." It said this is demonstrated by the infringement of GNPC's data ownership rights, the current diversionary tactics concerning Mr Tsatsu Tsikata, a former GNPC Chief Executive, Stratoil and Modec and the original Kosmos Petroleum agreement signed in respect of Cape Three Points which "inexplicably gives Ghana billions of dollars less than other agreements such as Tullow's Deep Water Tano Block immediately to the west."
